Queensland Welcomes Legend of the Seas

Queenslanders rejoice! The river city will be the new home of Royal Caribbean's 70,000 ton extravagant cruise liner, Legend of the Seas! This is the first time ever that Royal Caribbean International has based a ship in the sunny state of Queensland. The new local legend will arrive in her new home on tomorrow (Tuesday, December 8) and will sail our waters until April next year. Her arrival is expected to inject an incredible 24 million dollars into the Queensland economy (and that's just with passenger spend alone!)

“We are thrilled to welcome Legend of the Seas to her brand new home.  We have been working towards basing a ship in Brisbane since opening our Australia office in 2009 – so it’s a great pleasure to finally deliver Queenslanders with an international style of cruising, right on their doorstep,” said Adam Armstrong, Regional Commercial Director, Royal Caribbean International.

A trip on Legend of the Seas is guaranteed to be unforgettable. The vessel recently underwent an extensive 50 million dollar revitalization and now features world class facilities you are unlikely to find on any other cruise liner. Like,Central Atrium where high flying acrobats put on an incredible aerial show, an outdoor rock climbing wall for active travelers to test their skill, a mini golf course, indoor adults-only swimming pool for more leisurely pursuits,  a babies nursery, a pool-side big screen showing movies and sports games, an 800-seat theatre with Broadway style productions, the Vitality Spa & Fitness centre, a beauty salon and a shopping arcade.

And most importantly the FOOD! Legend of the Seas is a gourmand's paradise. The on board dining offering is sure to satisfy with six options including three specialty restaurants – a Japanese restaurant called Izumi, Royal Caribbean’s signature steakhouse Chops Grille and the 12-seat Chef’s Table private dining room. She also features a stunning two-deck grand dining room.

During her five month season, Legend of the Seas will embark on 15 itineraries in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific ranging from 2 to 18 nights.  The ship will return to Brisbane for an extended summer season October 2016. I don't know about you, but we'll be asking Santa for a dream cruise on board this beautiful vessel this year.
